The Organising Committee of the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games are pleased to announce a 9th Sponsor Partner for the Games.
Mr Albert Gubay who has been a major benefactor to sport on the Island for a number of years has agreed that The Gubay Foundation can become a partner, committing sponsorship of £20,000.
Mr Gubay said “I have been very impressed at the success of so many young sports men and women from the Island in recent years and I am so pleased that the Foundation has played such a vital part in enabling these talented people to fulfil their ambitions without worrying how the cost of success is to be met. These successes must have played an important part in the decision of the Commonwealth Games Federation to award these prestigious Games to the Isle of Man and so I am delighted that the Foundation will take an active part as a Partner.”
The 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games take place from 7th to 13th September 2011 with 1000 athletes aged between 14 and 18 from 71 nations of the Commonwealth coming to the island to compete in 7 sporting events.
Geoff Karran the Chairman and Games Director of the Organising Committee stated ” The Gubay Foundation has been such a help to so many young sportsmen and women on the Island and it is typical of the generosity of Mr Gubay that he accepts our invitation to allow the Foundation to join us as a Games Partner. The support we have received locally to these Games is so encouraging and I know that by working with the people of the Island we can guarantee a successful event of which we will all be proud”
