Visit of Scotland CGA to Isle of Man
Submitted on: Jul 07, 2010
Vicky Strange, the Games Team Operations Manager for the Commonwealth Games Scotland made a fleeting visit to the island in June. Vicky was given an update tour of the Games Village ‘Douglas’, as well as viewing sporting venues and meeting with members of the CYG2011 Organising Committee. The visit went well with Vicky being pleased with the progress of the CYG2011 OC and arrangements for the event.
The visit of Scotland follows those of England, Wales and Australia to the Isle of Man with South Africa coming over in November.
Meetings with CGA’s not only allow them to view facilities for CYG2011 and give them a better understanding of the internal structure of the Games Village but also allows them to discuss any past Games issues with the CYG2011 OC and seek solutions to those problems.
Key members of the CYG2011 OC will be visiting Delhi2010 from Wednesday 29th September to Monday 11th October. These include Geoff Karran, Chairman and Games Director, Andy Varnom, Chief Sports Co-ordinator, Joyce Hall, Games Administrator and Richard Howarth of Regency Travel. During that time we will make ourselves available to meet with any CGA to discuss matters pertaining to the 2011 Games. If you would prefer to make an appointment to see any of the committee please advise Joyce Hall by email at The CYG2011 OC will be presenting an update report to the CGF Executive Board on 1st October and to the General Assembly on 2nd October.
