Games Accommodation

Arrangements have been made by the Organising Committee to provide accommodation for all 1250 Competitors and Officials in 3 or 4 star Hotels or Guest Houses in Douglas. If any country wish to bring additional Officials in excess of their allocated numbers they will also be provided with accommodation in Douglas, although there can be no guarantee it will be in the same Hotel as the main party. Unfortunately there has been a very poor response from CGAs to the questionnaire sent out some months ago and so it has not been possible at this time to release the provisional allocation details. CGAs who have not sent back these questionnaires are requested to do so as soon as possible.

All Hotels and Guest Houses will provide a daily breakfast.

The main Games Hotel will be the Sefton Hotel on Central Promenade where the CGF Executive will be based. Any CGA who wish to reserve a room in that hotel for any dignitary are advised to contact the Organising Committee to arrange this.

Nations will be allocated their accommodation by the Organising Committee and will not be able to contact the hotels direct to reserve accommodation.

CATERING

The Organising Committee have awarded the catering contract for the Games to the Sefton Group who operate the Sefton and the Hilton Hotels in Douglas. All 1250 competitors and officials will receive an evening meal on the Wednesday the 7th September and then lunch and evening meals for the next 5 days. Entry to the Marquee at the NSC for Lunch and at the Hilton Hotel for dinner will be by Vouchers Again additional officials brought by any nation can purchase vouchers so as to be able to eat with their colleagues provided such purchase is made at least 2 weeks before the event.
Sample menus will be distributed 6 months before the start of the Games.

TRAVEL

All competitors and Officials will be met on arrival at either the airport or sea Terminal and taken to their hotels. During the Games period there will be a circular bus travelling along the main Promenade where the competitors and officials will be housed and linking the sports venues. Entrance to these buses which will operate every 10 minutes will be by accreditation passes.
All nations are advised that it will be financially beneficial to arrange their own travel in their own country for getting access to Britain. We would advise teams to attempt to land in Manchester which is in the North West of England. This would then leave open the options of flying to the Island from either Manchester of Liverpool or taking the Sea Cat fast craft vessel from Liverpool. The advantage of the boat journey is that there is no weight restriction on luggage or equipment.

We are inviting tenders for the appointment of a local approved Travel Agent who would act as an advisor to nations in making their bookings to the Island from Britain and also assist spectators in making their travel arrangements
