Britannia International announced as sponsor for the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2011. Britannia International has become the first sponsor of the Commonwealth Youth Games, to be held in the Isle of Man in September 2011.

The bank is providing £20,000 which will be used to support both the Games' educational programme, working with local schoolchildren and young people in the run-up to the Games, as well as the creation of a volunteer taskforce to assist competitors and spectators at the event itself.

"We're delighted to be able to support such a great event for the Isle of Man," said Mark Beresford, Britannia International Managing Director.

"The Commonwealth Youth Games offers fantastic opportunities not just for the sports stars of the future but for everyone to become involved with meeting people and learning about other countries and cultures.

"It's also a marvellous chance to promote the Isle of Man in a truly international arena. We're looking forward to working with the organisers to make this a really successful event that will be memorable for both the Manx people and visitors alike."

Chairman of the Organising Committee for the Commonwealth Youth Games 2011 Geoff Karran says " I am delighted that such a major player as Britannia International has chosen to support these games which gives our Island over 3 years to promote itself to the 71 nations of the Commonwealth."

The official launch of the Isle of Man's hosting of the Youth Games in 2011 will take place on Friday, February 1st, at the Villa Marina in Douglas.
